Each year I choose a word for the year.
I’ve started searching for my word for 2019 and reflecting on past words I’ve chosen.
2017 Shine & Grow
Sometimes the word stays with me the whole year other times it drifts away or flips around.
2012 was our first year in Perth. And my perspective changed a lot. I lived for a year with no real life friends, no family support and a husband suddenly working away for months. I learnt a lot about how I saw myself and how I’d let other people’s perspectives cloud my sense of self.
2013 we moved to Baldivis and I nourished myself with new friendships and got a thermomix! We walked to school every day, we explored our new neighbourhood and built our house. I baked lots, pretty sure 2013 was the year of the bagel! I found a love for interior design that nourished my creative side.
2014 was different, we moved into our new home, Tom had 3 months off work to recover from having titanium plates put in his neck, in 13 years we’d never spent that much time together. It certainly was different.
2015 turned from Flourish to Flounder as my health deteriorated. All 3 girls were at school full-time and it was meant to be my year off to find myself. But more often than not I found myself on my brown lounge unable to do more than the basics to survive each day.
I laugh that 2016 was Balance, I didn’t focus on that word much but boy did it focus on me. Balance was the first dõTERRA essential oil I tried, in April 2016, and literally, that one drop changed my whole life.
2017 did see me Shine & Grow, the fact that I can see it myself shows how much of an impact the growth has had on my life.
2018 saw me ready to face my fears, embrace my fears and F E A R L E S S as I pursued my goals and dreams, I achieved many of my goals by mid-year, then stagnated as I hadn’t set more. I hadn’t given myself something to strive for, to work towards, to get me out of my comfort zone, to push past that fear.
I’m searching for 2019’s word, I’ve created a Pinterest board and will pin things that jump out at me until I find my word.
